INSTALL TEXT FER TRUMPET WINSOCK 3.0 REVISION D By Calimus For starters...never install trumpet while u are on the internet. If u have done this...u need to reinstall it again and let it overwrite itself. If u have installed it and have changed the winsoc.old file back to winsock.dll...please rename it winsock.old so that it will not interfear with Trumpet. And if you just want to play safe...just reinstall it anyway. Here are the thing's u will need to know for using trumpet with Netcom: Leave the are called ip address blank. 1: The DNS server(s) is a list of ip's from the server. usually six different ip's will do. Here is a list of ip's u can use for it: 199.182.120.1 199.182.120.2 199.182.120.202 199.182.120.203 Put a space between th ip's or it will not work! 2: The Domain Suffix is: ix.netcom.com 3: Make sure you select the PPP setting below Domain Suffix and not SLIP 4: Leave the Vector, Gateway, and Netmask as zero's 5: In Dialer Settings do the following: Make sure to select the ComPort that you're modem is on. Then set the dialer for Hardware Handshaking. Then select the correct Baud rate for you're modem. Then make sure of the following setting that are also in Dialer Settings: On Line Status Detection=NONE AutoMatic Login=No Automatic Login Parity and Word Size=Standard SLIP/PPP Settings 6: After finishing the setup go to the PPP Options...there you must set it for: Use Pasword Authentication Protocol (PAP) Then where it says Username make sure to put us,ppp,(U'r username) And then enter you're password normally 7: You're setup is finished but you are not done...you must dial into Netcom Manually or Trumpet will not work. To do this...Find the number of ur netcom provider in dial-up. Dail-up can be found in the accesories pop-up of windows95. When you start up Trumpet...go to the Dialer menu and select Manual Login. You will see a blinking cursor near the bottom of ur screen. At that cursor you must type : atdt (Netcom's number). Make sure you add one space after the atdt command. 8: You're all ready now...Have fun
